We meet on Tuesday evenings, from 6:30 - 8:00pm. Your child may wear the green Cub jumper straight away. I can get these for you from the Scout Shop for £10. There is a joining fee of £8.50 which includes the Cub Scout Handbook, the red/gold/green necker, a woggle, a Rainow Cubs T-shirt plus all of the badges your child will receive whilst at cubs. Weekly subs is £1. After enrolment, which is usually 6 weeks after joining, your child will work their way through the different Challenges that make up the new programme plus be able to attempt any of the 37 activity badges, either individually or as a group. We try to provide an interesting and varied programme. Past activities have included camping, canoeing, abseiling, swimming and hiking. We also make visits to places such as the Fire Station, Leisure Centre, Science Museum, to ice hockey and basketball games at the Manchester Evening News Arena and lots more. We have also had talks from the police and the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team. We run a football team (usually highly successful!), playing matches against other Cub packs on Saturday mornings. Part of the cub commitment includes Church Parade at Rainow Church from 9:50am for one hour, usually on the second Sunday of the month. - Sue Grimes, Akela |
